Smell
Leila has never been to India but is familiar with what it might be like thru the stories her monther tells her. Memories are so strongly associated with smells. Do you think her mother brought smells to their home in that reminded her of her childhood in India? Tell me in the comments what smells remind you of home. I've just discovered this candle company called homesick. I looked it up and sure enough they have a India candle.
Touch
For this portion, I am going to talk about the book itself. Its truly a treat to read! With a novella, and flash fiction, it is a reader's buffet of tantlizing stories. The highlight, and why I recommned grabbing a physical copy, is the addition of sketches. You are not going to want to miss these delightful characters leaping off the pages!
Taste
The East India Company not only brought goods to England, but also a taste for Indian food. Curry became quite a popular dish -the same as we love comfort food from home today. Linked below is an article on the history of Indian food in Regency England and a recipe I plan on trying this week. Yes! Historical romance books even inspire me to find new recipes to try.

A big part of the story is that Jules and Leila are both poets. They really connect emotional during their first few meeting at the writer retreat. If Touch of Romance was turned into a movie (can we all keep our fingers crossed), I think this ambience playlist would be the perfect soundtrack! Try listening to it while you read.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Paullett Golden is a Houston, Texas native who divides her time between Northumberland, England and her hometown. She has been a university professor for over 20 years. When an oncologist told her she had three months to live, she decided it was time to fulfill her dream of being a novelist. As a survivor, she focuses her attention on writing. Her novels have hit the Top 10 Amazon bestseller lists and won a multitude of literary awards. She loves historical fiction of all kinds as a way to transport us to a different time and place. All research comes from authentic resources of the era and from scholarly and peer-reviewed articles from researchers specializing in the time period.
