I love the 12-week system! I don’t stick to it perfectly but began adopting it this year to plan out my Substack work, and it is so helpful for reducing overwhelm.
I find that there comes a point in a writing project (be it first draft, final draft, whatever) where it comes to 'do it 'til it's done.' And (except for exercising, etc.), it is what I spend all my available time on. But then I give myself a break of no writing for several days, or even weeks. Or, like right now, as I am still giving myself time after getting my first publication, going back to writing something that I have been working on off and on for a while, but may never even get submitted, and may be just for me, but a source for other stories.
Yes. But I really think I can only do it when I actually see the light at the end of the tunnel, and push for it. Like in the WH40K thing I am doing right now, my Space Marines have to get form one part of an embattled multi-level city to another; I just have to figure out how, and through how much and what kind of opposition.
Great points. I've been thinking that consistency is a major factor. Showing up every day and putting in work always gets results at anything. Awesome post, Melissa.
Thanks for stopping in! Yes, I think sometimes its so overly simplistic to just be consistent and we skip right past it. I’m glad this resonated with you.
I agree! Consistency seems like such basic advice, but it’s been a game changer for me! Great post.

Yes! I find even without being super strict about it, it is still very helpful.

Such a great point! Sometimes with that consistence we need an extra push to get us through.

Progress over perfection.

Good points! I go outside every morning to take in nature and breathe fresh air.
It’s such a great way to start the day! Great for your mental and physical health, as well as a fresh spark for your creativity. :)
Ah! Walks are so underrated. Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping in!
