Excellent book choices. I like the poem as well... I believe it speaks to what is in many people's hearts.

I kind of like your poem.

Am I right, is it inspired by the recent activities of Donald Trump and his associates?

If so, you may be interested to know that there are many futurists who predict that the US as it presently is, will last another generation at most, before breaking apart into several separate entities. Your country needs no external enemies; you are more than busy enough fighting amongst yourselves

And with the road we are going down, my country, Canada, may begin to regard yours as an enemy, rather than a friend, driving us into the arms of Russia, Asia, and a Europe that is viewing the US with increasing distrust.

As a fellow history lover and reticent poetry share-er I just wanted to pop in and say thank you for this post.

Question: My older-elementary-age son is a big WW2 guy. Anything that would be 9 year old inappropriate in "The Girls Who Stepped Out of Line?"
