Wow! I can’t believe it — we did it! Thanks to all of you, I’ve surpassed my goal of 200 subscribers before the end of the year. 🎉
I’m so grateful for each and every one of you who has joined this little corner of the internet where we get to talk about books, history, and storytelling.
For those of you who are new (and even those who’ve been here from the start), let me reintroduce myself! I’m Melissa Makarewicz — an author assistant, business owner, and lifelong lover of books.
I’m also proud to run the Jane Austen Literacy Foundation Community, where I get to champion literacy for all with Jane Austen’s fifth-great niece (and the last of Jane’s nieces to grow up in Chawton House where Jane lived and wrote) and connect with fellow Austen enthusiasts.
As we head into 2025, I wanted to share some exciting updates about what you can expect from my little corner of the internet:
Historical Fiction and Strong Women in History
My posts will focus even more on the fascinating world of historical fiction and highlight stories of strong, trailblazing women who’ve shaped history. Expect book recommendations, reflections, and insights that celebrate their voices.
What I’m Reading & Loving Lately
Romance readers, rejoice! I’ll be sharing more of what’s on my nightstand (and in my Kindle), with plenty of romance recs — from contemporary love stories to Regency-era slow burns - with some fan fiction in the mix.
Diversity in Storytelling
Heading into this new year, I’m committed to diversifying my reading and recommendations. Representation matters, and I’m excited to spotlight authors and stories from a wide range of backgrounds, cultures, and experiences so I can empathize more with their stories and become better educated on how to be an ally.
This space is for all of us, and I’d love to hear from you, too!
Have a favorite book historical fiction or romance book you think I should explore? Leave a comment and let me know. (seriously, comments make my day)
Your recommendations might just find their way into an upcoming post.
Thank you again for being part of this journey with me. Whether you’re here for the history, the romance, or simply the joy of discovering your next great read, I’m so glad you’re here.
Here’s to an inspiring reading ahead!
P.S. If you joined for the author assistant side of things, please stick around! I have a big announcement coming soon.
Happy reading,
Melissa
Congratulations!
This sounds great! I really enjoyed reading 'The Personal Librarian' - such a great story behind the novel!
