We are in the rush to the holiday reading finish line. All that BOOK IT Pizza Hut program reading I did as a child was training me for this moment. (let me know if you also grew up in 80s and 90s and were highly motivated to read by a reward of free pizza, lol.)
I have 5 holiday books left on my NetGalley shelf, and together we are going to see if I can finish me before Christmas day is here. I’ll be keeping you up to date with a post each week, and share my thoughts live on my Notes.
Here’s what I need to read…
*Currently reading - All I Want Is You by Falon Ballard
Exes. Professional rivals. Just one bed. What could go wrong?
All Jessica has ever wanted is her own happily ever after. But until that happens, she spends her days as a small-time romance writer, penning satisfying Happily Ever Afters to soothe the heartache left by her ex-boyfriend Nick—also a romance writer and now her biggest rival—who has found success writing love stories without happy endings. It’s what he’s good at, after all . . .
So when their professional obligations bring them to a remote inn a few days before Christmas, they’re a little more than peeved, especially when they get trapped sharing a room in a snowstorm. But what’s more fitting for two romantic writers in a slump? Realizing the friction between them might be the only cure for their writer’s block, they decide to turn their frustration into fiction . . . and the pages start flying. But will Jess’s heart soar, too? Nick is the last guy on earth she should love . . . but what if he is really all she wants for Christmas?
*while I was writing and editing this post, I managed to finish All I Want It You. It was a fantastic holiday romance. Definitely one of my favorite of the year. If you are an Emily Henry fan, this is absolutely gives the same feel.
An emotional plot, great sexual tension, realistic HEA. Loved it!
Currently Reading - Christmas at the Little Paris Hotel by Rebecca Raisin
Turn a tumbledown Paris hotel into a perfect boutique, bookish retreat, and have it open for Christmas? What could possibly go wrong?
When Anais receives a near-derelict Paris hotel in her divorce settlement, her first thought is to tidy it up and sell it immediately. All she wants is to move on and forget her disaster of a marriage ever happened.
But selling it proves impossible, so she has only one option: to make it gorgeous and open by Christmas… when her funds will almost certainly run out.
She’s not counting on the grumpy American bar-owner next door, Noah, coming and interfering at every moment though. Nor is she expecting to find a mysterious room – which holds the key to a one-hundred-year-old secret – about a woman who chose love against the odds.
One thing’s for sure… as the fairy lights twinkle all over the city of lights and the first snowflakes start to fall… this will be a Christmas in Paris to remember.
The Merry Matchmaker by Sheila Roberts
Inspired by Jane Austen’s Emma, this joyful Christmas romp tells the story of a woman who can’t stop trying to help everyone around her find their happily-ever-after—even when her help leads to disaster.
Frankie Lane knows what’s best for just about everyone but herself. Her divorced sister, Stef, who is too young to give up on love; her shy employee, Elinor; and her daughter, Natalie, who works in Frankie’s shop, Holiday Happiness, and really needs to start her own business selling the delectable chocolates she makes at home; even her best friend, Viola, who is trying to renovate her old Victorian. Frankie knows she could help all of them, if they’d just let her—and if all of her help didn’t end in utter disaster.
Then there’s Mitch Howard, the owner of the local hardware store. They’ve been friends ever since Frankie opened her store, nine years earlier. He got her through the nightmare when she lost her husband in a freak accident, and he’s her favorite shoulder to cry on. He’s been divorced for years, and it’s such a waste of man! Mitch is the fittest, finest man Frankie knows. He’s easygoing, wise and kindhearted. Mitch needs someone. And she’s determined to help him find that someone—whether he likes it or not.
Note - I started this one a few weeks ago but found it a bit confusing. I’m going to give it another go though!
Saving Christmas in the Little Irish Village by Michelle Vernal
Christmas trees decked with fairy lights twinkle in every window, carollers fill the streets, and charity worker Hannah is gearing up for the season of giving in the little Irish village. But it’s not just the cold winter winds that are chilling her spirits this year…
When twenty-three-year-old Hannah Kelly finds out that the beautiful rolling hills around her hometown could be destroyed by a new building development, she rushes back to Emerald Bay to rally the community. But arriving home at The Shamrock Inn, there’s another shock in store… the handsome and sparkling-eyed lead developer, Tom Flynn, has checked in as a guest. Is this Hannah’s chance to save the village?
Hannah tries to convince Tom the beautiful area needs to be protected: even though he’s as stubborn as the donkey in the local nativity play. But when sharing that this is also where her late grandfather first met and proposed to her grandmother, his gentle hug as she sobs makes her wonder if maybe they aren’t so different…
As sparks start to fly, Hannah decides to invite Tom to experience the joys of a Kelly Christmas Day. When Tom’s hand catches hers as they peel brussels sprouts together, Hannah’s cheeks start to blush. But it turns to a flush of anger as he ducks out to take a call – about work starting in the spot she’s fought so hard to save. And the voice on the phone is strangely familiar…
Can Hannah figure out who is behind Tom’s project and stop the plans? Or will following her heart be the key to saving the little Irish village and Christmas for everyone?
The Christmas Countdown by Holly Cassidy
She’s given up on love and Christmas…but fate has other plans.
All Callie wants for Christmas is to hibernate. She's still reeling from being dumped by her childhood sweetheart, and under no circumstances will she go home for the holidays considering her ex will be right next door with his new, perfect partner. Callie is officially in grinch mode, but her meddling sister, Anita, won’t let her give up on life, love, and Christmas quite so easily.
Anita stages a Christmas intervention for Callie with a homemade Advent calendar challenge—cheerful tasks to push Callie out of her comfort zone and into the holiday spirit, inspired by a childhood tradition. Callie reluctantly plays along, but when she comes face-to-face with a charming baker who just might be the spoonful of sugar she needs, her strict rules on love and the holidays are tested. As they strike a deal to do the activities together, could the twenty four little doors on Callie’s Advent calendar not only open up one, but two closed-off hearts?
❤️🎄✨I love reading holiday romances, and I’m really excited to get cozied up and read these last few books for the holiday season. I’m keeping my kindle charger close by!
I do have a few used book finds that I would love to also make it through it I can.
Last Christmas in Paris: A Novel of World War I by Hazel Gaynor and Heather Webb
August 1914. England is at war. As Evie Elliott watches her brother, Will, and his best friend, Thomas Harding, depart for the front, she believes—as everyone does—that it will be over by Christmas, when the trio plan to celebrate the holiday among the romantic cafes of Paris.
But as history tells us, it all happened so differently…
Evie and Thomas experience a very different war. Frustrated by life as a privileged young lady, Evie longs to play a greater part in the conflict—but how?—and as Thomas struggles with the unimaginable realities of war he also faces personal battles back home where War Office regulations on press reporting cause trouble at his father’s newspaper business. Through their letters, Evie and Thomas share their greatest hopes and fears—and grow ever fonder from afar. Can love flourish amid the horror of the First World War, or will fate intervene?
Christmas 1968. With failing health, Thomas returns to Paris—a cherished packet of letters in hand—determined to lay to rest the ghosts of his past. But one final letter is waiting for him…
I really want to get to this one. I love epistolary books, and one set during Christmas in Paris sounds like it will give all the feels.
Christmas By The Book by Anne Marie Ryan
In small-town England, two booksellers facing tough times decide to spread some Christmas cheer through the magic of anonymous book deliveries in this uplifting holiday tale for book lovers everywhere.
Nora and her husband, Simon, have run the beautiful oak-beamed book shop in their small British village for thirty years. But times are tough and the shop is under threat of closure--this Christmas season will really decide their fate. When an elderly man visits the store and buys the one book they've never been able to sell, saying it's the perfect gift for his sick grandson, it gives Nora an idea. She and Simon will send out books to those feeling down this Christmas. Maybe they can't save their bookstore, but at least they'll have one final chance to lift people's spirits through the power of reading.
After gathering nominations online, Nora and Simon quietly deliver books to six residents of the village in need of some festive cheer, including a single dad of twins who is working hard to make ends meet, a teenage boy grieving for his big sister, a local Member of Parliament who is battling depression, and a teacher who's newly retired and living on her own. As the town prepares for a white Christmas, the books begin to give the recipients hope, one by one. But with the future of the bookshop still up in the air, Nora and Simon will need a Christmas miracle--or perhaps a little help from the people whose lives they've touched--to find a happy ending of their own....
❤️🔥This one feels like it would be perfect read on Christmas Eve stilling in front of the fire. I’ve had a few comments on my used book haul where share this one saying that it is a fantastic read.
Do you have any holiday reading you are trying to finish up? I would love to know what books are in your stack.
What I’ve Been Wearing.
Looking to treat yourself to a little something bookish this month, here’s my favorite sweatshirt that I’ve been wearing non-stop since the weather cooled off. As the community manager of the Jane Austen Literacy Foundation, I feel justified in any purchase of clothing that mentions literacy. 😉
What I’ve Been Drinking.
If you are like me and always have a cup of tea around, might I suggest you try Harney & Sons. It’s my absolutely favorite tea to drink. I have so many flavors that it might warrant a post of it’s own. But, for now, I’ll share with you my favorite flavor, Paris.
Wishing you loads of cozy reading this week. 🥰

Yes pizza huts book it program is one of my best childhood memories!!
I used to read so much romance when I wrote reviews for Romantic Times that it's hard for me to read it if it's not a secondary plot within another genre - but I'm adding a lot of what you're reading and recommending to my TBR list, so thank you!
I miss the Book It days. My stomach isn't happy when I eat pizza nowadays, but I don't care. I'd still take my personal size pizza and eat it for the sole reason that I read to earn it.
