What’s Helping Me Through Grief Right Now
Resources for Navigating Loss – For You and Your Family
Thank you for the kind messages, replies, and love you’ve sent since my last note. I’ve felt so held by this community. Grief is disorienting, and it arrives with no manual. But it also reminds us of how deeply we’ve loved—and how human we all are.
If you’re also walking through a season of loss, please know you’re not alone.
Today, I want to share a few resources that have helped me begin to process everything. These are not solutions, but small helpers that make the journey feel a little less lonely.
💛 For Adults: Books That Are Helping Me
📘 It's OK That You're Not OK by Megan Devine
This book feels like someone sitting beside you, not rushing you to feel better or "move on." Megan Devine writes with raw honesty, giving voice to what grief actually feels like—and it’s such a gift. This was the first book about grief that I bought, and I’m so happy I grabbed it.

📘 Grief Is Love by Marisa Renee Lee
This book gave me a powerful truth: grief is love that has nowhere to go. It helped me stop fighting my feelings and start making space for them, gently and with compassion.

🧸 For Children: Gentle Books to Help Little Hearts
My niece and nephew—who are very young—were in the adjacent hotel room when my dad passed. While they don’t fully understand what happened, they know something big has changed. I’ve shared these book recommendations with my brother to help the kids begin to explore their feelings.
Books can give children the language and safety to process grief in ways that feel right for their age.
📙 The Sad Dragon: A Dragon Book About Grief and Loss
This gentle story helps kids understand what grief feels like and reminds them that all feelings are okay—even the hard ones. The dragon is a sweet and comforting guide.

📙 I Can’t Believe They’re Gone: A Kid’s Grief Book That Hugs, Helps, and Gives Hope
With simple words and warm illustrations, this book speaks directly to children’s hearts, validating their confusion, sadness, and need for connection.

Grief touches every life at some point. Sharing these resources is my way of reaching out you in hopes that some of what I’ve been learning can help you, or someone you know too.
If you’ve come across a book, podcast, or practice that helped you through a loss—adult or child-focused—I would love to hear about it.
Thank you for being here.
Happy reading,
