Hello!

Hi, my name is Melissa. I am an author assistant to historical fiction, historical romance, and cozy mystery authors. I'm happy to be a part of the team for micro publisher History Through Fiction, as well as being the community manager for the Jane Austen Literacy Foundation.

You are probably asking yourself. Is she book obsessed? The answer my family would give you is a resounding "yes"!

My business, The Literary Assistant, was born out of my connections with authors from my book blog, Probably at the Library (any old-school bloggers here?). It has become my privilege to work with dozens of authors on their publishing journey.

I’ve been behind the scenes helping authors grow their communities for years. I’ve enjoy helping them so much, and now I want to share my years of experience and joy of reading with you! Here, you will find a place where we can connect as both authors and readers. I’ll be sharing what I’m reading, helping you with insights I gain as an author assistant, and providing afforable lessons to authors on their publishing journey. Think of me as your “book bestie”.

I would love to have you hang out here and join me. If you want to join as a reader, all reader topics will be available for free.

However, if you would like to join my paid membership, for $8 a month (or $79 a year), this is a sample of what you can look forward to -

  • Access to ALL of my weekly writing including the topics - community building, social media, insight from my personal client work, and mindful marketing.

  • Monthly wrap up post - an exclusive monthly catch up with articles, books, and podcasts links that will bring value to you on your writing and publishing journey.

  • Lessons from The Literary Assistant - an exclusive monthly lesson in video form on topics revolving around marketing, social media, reader communities, and publishing.

My content will include -

  • Thoughts on books I’m reading

  • My favorite business book recommendations

  • Updates on what’s bringing results for my clients

  • Reflections on being a business owner (which you are if you are publishing books)

  • Advice on how to build a better book-based business

  • Guest posts with practical advice from authors

  • And so much more

If you are like me, you have made some of your best book buddies here on the internet. That’s the vibe I’m here to create. I want you to think of this space as your community hang out for book people (because authors are book people too).

The only rules are...

  • It's impossible to talk about books too much.

  • Staying up too late reading is adult privilege (and one that I will exercise frequently).

  • And, we are all here to support each other.

So if this sounds like your kind of people. I’m happy to have you here!
